Realize without Demise

Realize the real lies,
But don’t let em’ turn into core lies,
We’re seen as perfect through Christ’s eyes,
If the Holy Spirit within us resides,
Let Him turn around your life of spiritual homicides,
And attempted suicides,
Rebuke the pornographic demographic,

Take it full force, blitz it an' quarterback sack it,
Christ alone is the one who provides,
His love outnumbers the grains of sand on the seaside’s and roadsides,
A fountain of living water which never subsides,
As long as we give Jesus our hearts to cosign,
He controls it all even the landslides,
Deep in the countryside,
Christ is there even in our hard times,
An’ wartimes,
Through all our lifetimes,
No one else can save you from your old pastimes,
That’s why I’m up here bustin’ rhymes,
I’m bold for Christ no longer a mime,
Christ gives us the strength to climb,
Amidst the Satan filled worldly slime, an’ enzymes,
Turn to Christ in these times,
Look to Him and you’ll again shine,
As long as your life and His will aligns,
And you follow the biblical guidelines,
You’re one of God’s greatest designs,
Each day your heart will be refined,
Christ will always be by your side,
Even when you're mortified,
Petrified,
Terrified,
So realize those real lies,
But don’t let em’ turn into core lies,
Flee immorality,
Turn to face harmony,
Your in good company,
Pick up your timpani,
And Join Christ's symphony.

From Peter's Eyes

Tomorrow I’ll be crucified,
Not in the way that Christ died,
For I’m not worthy to die glorified,
So I’ll be flipped upside,
A crucifixion modified,
Through Christ I’m purified,
No longer a misguide,
Terrified,
Mystified,
Misapplied,
Christ’s blood has made me beautified,
Verified,
Unified,
For my life’s been rectified,
I’ll leave this earth satisfied,
Cause I’ve done all I can do to get the good news out and multiplied,
Who would’ve thought I would be at this place,
I’ll soon depart to see Christ’s holy face,
I was called by Christ to walk in his ways,
Standing on the shore of the Galilean seaside,
Christ’s call to me could not be denied,
My life’s work prepared me for this time,
Each day washing my nets,
Putting away the days frets and storm threats,
Preparing for another day on my boat, my only asset,
My life was radically changed, as he proclaimed,
The truth of the Gospel unashamed an’,
Untamed,
For there was a power in his name,
And the reason he came,
The world will never be the same,
Change their aim,
Stop living for fame,
See the power in Christ’s name,
Jesus was on a mission,
Preaching the great commission,
With God’s permission,
He was in full submission,
Boldness, strength, and ambition,
He told us disciples, “it will all come to fruition”,
Not much time to reach this nation,
So we must keep this position,
No matter the condition,
Throw away the inhibition,
Face the opposition,
Fight tradition,
God’s word ammunition,
I followed Christ through the storms on the seas,
The healing of those in need,
He told us, “these things you can also do if you believe”,
He sent us out among the lost sheep of Israel full of disease,
And unease,
Christ said, “Whoever receives you receives me”,
Those who oppose you will someday see,
That their life wasn’t all that it was cracked up to be,
By then it will be too late to be redeemed,
As for me I’m done with the worldly scheme,
I now live my life fighting on Gods team,
I kept the theme,
Even though at times I swam upstream,
When the winds came I cried, “Lord come and save me!”
When Jesus said I should act mercifully to a brother in need,
When I asked Jesus what else will there be? Is there more I can see?
When I missed my watch and fell asleep in Gethsemane,
When I denied Jesus and tried to repent immediately,
Still Jesus saw the good in me,
I discovered the tomb where there was no body,
Jesus came back to reveal the great commission to me,
At the Sea of Galilee,
I pressed on to spread the news,
I had nothing to lose,
Now I await my time to leave this land,
To reach out and take Christ’s hand,
As he leads me to the Promised Land,
So take a stand,
Your life’s all been planned,
Only in Christ can you withstand,
And enter the kingdom which is near at hand.

From Peter's point of view.

#1 Fan

I feel a compulsion,
A spiritual convulsion,
God is my portion, my potion,
I’m on a mission,
Gotta reach this nation,
This is my number one passion,
There is no other option,
My heart bleeds Christ’s love deeper than the ocean,
I’m done turnin’ and tossin’,
No I won’t take caution,
It’s the false teachers that cause such torsion,
An’ perversion,
So I must continue to make these assertions,
Christ died for us and this is certain,
I won’t allow anyone one to change this edition,
It was God’s decision,
He died for all our sins an’,
Calls us to spread the news an’,
Fight the untruth even if it means being orphaned,
You think that I preach the gospel out of my right mind,
More like out of my mind,
I’m out there fighting the tide,
Christ’s love compels me to take His side,
I’m obligated,
Spiritually inebriated,
Cross-driven an’ exhilarated,
That’s what keeps me acceleratin’,
And I won’t stop til the nets are full,
I’ll continue to strive, thrive and pull,
Giving the false one’s an armful,
A plateful,
A scoopful,
Even if it means dropping the word peaceful,
Through Christ our life is hopeful,
Purposeful,
Meaningful,
And remindful,
Of His death on the cross that was successful,
Unforgetful,
And Christ saved me even though I was hurtful,
Now I stand here respectful,
Even though I get struck down,
An’ beat down,
An’ put down,
I’m never crushed even if I’m turned down from every town,
So what does your heart sing?
Do you breed lustful thoughts and cursing?
An’ cussing?
An’ fussing,
If that’s you I’ll tell you what you’re missing,
Christ’s love which is beyond amazing,
Life changing,
Heart shaping,
So free the past from your tight white knuckled fist an’,
Trust in Christ to remove the sin an’,
Fall on your face and allow Him to come in an’,
Change your life and give you peace an’,
Strength to get up and take a stand an’,
To reach out and take Christ’s hand,
Cause after all He’s your number one fan.

Ukuleles

All my life I’ve been running,
Straining and sweatin’,
Trying to please God in all that I do,
But so many times I hit that big ole’ brick wall,
Not answering God’s call to trust,
Because pleasing God was all that I knew,
What else is there to do?
Don’t we want to please God?
Shouldn’t that be why we make every move?
Don’t we want Him to be happy with us and approve?
That’s when I discovered trust,
Trust…how do we trust?
What does it take for us to look upon the face of God, bow down and trust?
It takes our heart, mind, and soul to adjust,
All we know is how to please,
Playing sweet songs to God on our ukuleles,
But then times get rough and full of disease,
And unease,
Putting more hope in other and our Nextel walkie talkies,
And we are supposed to be the smart species?
We are more like trainees,
And interviewees,
So what now?
Do we run around like a mad cow?
Putting on our masks made of holier than thou?
Or do we look to Christ and trust,
Get up and wipe off the dust,
To head down that path of trust,
Leaving behind “aiming to please” and adjust,
Following Christ through trust,
Look to the verses,
Pray for those who hurt us,
Follow Christ’s lead and make wise choices,
But don’t aim to please,
Trust in Christ and put away your little ukuleles.

Ode To EDGE

As we go and part ways,
Let us finish strong the rest of these days,
And cling to Christ as we walk through this maze,
Life of ultimate craze,
Following Christ always brings a heart change,
Cleans up the dirty thoughts deep in my brain waves,
Allow Christ to work in these ways,
Tell him that you love him and know that he’s in your heart to stay,
Oh and by the way,
It’s not you but Christ in you that carries you everyday,
And everyway,
All the way,
And if you listen hard you’ll hear him say,
You’re my child and it’s for my glory that you were hand-made,
And as you walk on your campus,
Realize that you’ll never be missed or dismissed,
Christ will never use your sin to reminisce,
You rise with a clean slate everyday,
For those who praise his name,
Those we minister to will change,
Never be the same,
Stop playing life’s rotten game,
And call out Christ’s name,
Not just with their brain,
But with a heart that’s been changed,
We cover this nation from So Cal to the coast of Maine,
On the same field playin’ the same game,
Reaching those in the valley who keep getting flipped up,
Spit up,
Beat up,
Tripped up,
Twisted up,
Messed up,
So let’s go out into the harvest field,
And not let Satan ravage, kill and steal,
We have the strength of Christ that’s stronger than anything Satan tries to reveal,
When troubles come Christ gives us strength to kneel,
We rise again through Christ,
Who brings us to the highest of heights,
So that others can see the strength of his might,
Go in God’s grace,
With the fullness of his grace,
Shining like the sun upon your blessed face.

Woe to Man, Hope in Christ

Woe to the man,
Who takes his life in his own hands,
Who tries to run but can’t even stand,
An artist who doesn’t know tan from cyan,
A man with no clue and no plan,
Just another face in the grand stands,
Talking about everything from blah blah to bleep bleep,
Saying life’s too hard and to steep,
God’s promises he can’t keep,
But we have hope,
We don’t live our lives by the thread of a rope,
A castle minus a mote,
We have Christ to help us cope,
When we choke,
Amidst the endless slopes,
And the clouds of smoke,
That burns our eyes,
That starts our demise,
But with the strength of Christ we again rise,
As we look to the verses,
Christ strips away the curses,
And the core lies that enforces,
So we step on the bus,
Turn to him and trust,
God’s word says it’s a must,
Or it’s off to hell for us,
Eternal lust,
Punished like those in Leviticus,
But thank God he has mercy on us,
A love that’s continuous,
Endless,
Timeless,
Ageless,
Changeless,
So live life to please Christ and not men,
Run hard after God and don’t worry about them.

Same Ole' Story

I'll be the first to admit,
No matter what it was I’d go with it,

Get up; stand up, lickety split,

Take a hit,

Jump over it,

Have a go at it,

Never finding my way but losin’ it,

Every bit,
Like a long lost travel kit,
But I realized this,

God showed me what I'd missed,

The life I knew as a kid,

Before i ran away and hid,

So I turned around and did a little recommit,

So excited I couldn't sit,

Now through Christ I can handle it,

What life do you live?

Don't you know that no matter what Christ forgives?

The life he lived,

Is ours if we commit,

But we would rather strive, thrive, and lie,

Taking big ole' nose dives,

But Christ is there even in our hard times,

When we lose our minds,

And we need to unwind,

Christ is loving, gracious, majestic and kind,

But we toss him to the wind like a rotten rind,

But hey, I'll be the first to admit,

No matter what it was I’d go with it,

Get up; stand up, lickety split,

But through Christ I overcame the sin,

He calls me His own,

Not because of the love that I’ve shown,

But because Christ died on the cross to show,

His love for me and my life's not my own,

Now I know the truth,

So I'll set up a booth,

And tell it to the youth,

Fighting the untruth,

Asking God, what is my next move?

But hey, I'll be the first to admit,

No matter what it was I’d go with it,

Get up; stand up, lickety split,

But through Christ I overcame the sin.

Proactive

What’s up with us people,

Sitting under our steeple,
Not living it through the week though,
Can’t talk about the gospel,
Acting like we’re crippled,
So we go around and we grapple,
Like we just drank a bad can o’ Snapple,
Taste buds ruined,
Can’t taste the truth and,
Swayed by the wind and,
Fighting the headwind that forces us to surrender,
Like a busted fender,
Crushed up in a blender,
Going around being big spenders,
Falling down like a pair of pants minus suspenders,
Living up all the splendor,
Becoming a fake and a pretender,
Doing nothing but going around to hinder,
All others from becoming better contenders,
Christ defenders,
We would rather live for us,
And sit around and lust,
Saying that it’s for us or bust,
What’s up with us people,
Sitting under our steeple,
Not living it through the week though,
Can’t talk about the gospel,
Acting like we’re crippled,
So what’s to come of it all?
Who will we turn to when we fall?
Who will give us warmth like a grandmother’s shawl?
I say Christ and only Christ can answer our call,
If we see what he’s done for us overall,
Even before we were a sparkle in our mothers eyeball,
And even before we learned how to crawl,
But we would rather claim Christ as an oddball,
And not give up our lives to His call,
Can’t stand the heat but we’re still in the kitchen,
Making our own last meals,
Talking to the Devil and making deals,
When all he wants to do is burn us but we never heal,
We must turn to Christ and not the devil,
And go out each day and face the peril,
With the strength of Christ and robbed in Ephesians 6 apparel,
What’s up with us people,
Sitting under our steeple,
Not living it through the week though,
So get up and share the gospel,
With the strength of Christ and coupled with other people.

What is Gospel Slam?

Gospel Slam is sort of like spoken word. Instead of using just some random words and stuff (although some may think that these are), I use scripture, personal experiences, and the crazy happenings of this world around me to motivate my words. I have a CD with 8 Gospel Slams on it that I recorded. I am using this site as a way for me to post my lyrics so that you can follow along with the CD. If you would like one of these please post a comment on the blog with your mailing address and I can get one out to you ASAP! Thanks and enjoy! -Hussman
